Chapter 1: The Feeling of Abandonment
—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•— From the age of 6, I grew up in a Christian home. I learned that God was good, love, & always there to help & protect. .
I went to church & youth camps, listened to Christian music, read my Bible, & even pledged to save myself for marriage. .
When I was 16, a guy I knew changed my life & stole so much from me. I was confused, among other things, trying to wrap my head around what had happened. Most of all, I felt utterly abandoned by the One I was told I could trust. .
I did everything I was supposed to. I lived ‘that’ Christian life. Why would You let something like that happen to me? .
That feeling took years to go away, & that will be discussed in a future post. But looking back now, God has shown me so much. .
Did you know His heart breaks when yours does? That He would never want to see His children hurt? He was waiting there with arms open wide saying, “Come to me. Find your rest in me. You are strong, but with me, we can face this together and I can heal your wounds. This experience hurt, I know. It hurt me too. But trust me when I say, you will become stronger than this and you will help others with your story. I never left you. I’ve been right here this whole time. I will always be here. Just turn to me, let me carry you, and find rest.” .
Even though the event was horrible, scary, confusing & more, God was always there to help me. To pick me up & give me rest. It just took me 3yrs to let Him. .
So remember this during your difficult times, or even if you’ve been down the same road I was: God has never & will never abandon you, even if it feels like it. His love for you goes so deep & He wants you to turn to Him, even during those tough, difficult, & confusing times. Turn to Him, trust in Him, & find rest. Only then can you truly begin to find peace that is unlike anything else. .
Cast all of you worries, fears, & pain on Him, bc He loves you more than you know. . “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
