A month ago my grandmother passed away. Although as a veterinary professional and pet owner, I commonly deal with animal death, this was my first loss of a human relative that I was close with, and it definitely hits different. She was such a strong woman and caring soul, and definetly passed on her love of animals to me. In particular, she had a special place in her heart for her cats. This painting is based off a picture of her and her cat Charlie, I took this picture when she was showing us the tricks she had taught him. When she was in the hospital she would always make sure my grandfather was taking care of him. I like to think that Charlie knows she is still looking out for him. ❤️ I've spent a lot of time the past month thinking about how strange the world is and connecting more with my sprituality. Life is so strange but so special- so, do the things that make you happy, spend time with those you love, and just simply have fun.
On a lighter note, I've included some pictures of Charlie, including the indents in the carpet that he has made from walking the same path everyday lol. He walks from his food bowl to his waterbowl in the bathroom, and takes the same exact steps everytime. He's a pretty strange cat- acts more like a dog if anything.
Also included a picture of us with one of the first pet portraits I did a few years back.
Prints of this will be available on my Etsy.
