Chapter 52: Jer’s Disappearing Act A few weeks after I had arrived, Jer was hanging out with some friends right outside our room. They were having some drinks and some fun. I was playing Crash Bandicoot inside. Around 11:00, Jer came inside when they were done hanging out. I went to use the bathroom and when I got back to our room, he was gone.
Hmmm...maybe he walked up to 7-11. I thought it was weird because he didn’t say anything but figured he would be right back. More and more time went by and I started to get worried and I didn’t know what to do.
A little later, I went to Alot and told him and then asked if he would walk to 7- 11 to find him and make sure he was okay. I kept thinking he was in a ditch somewhere, hurt or something. Alot said that it was normal for Jer to do that and not to worry. Well, maybe that was normal pre-marriage, but that wasn’t going to fly now.
He obliged and came back shortly later without Jer. For the next few hours, I paced and prayed. You know, the prayer “Please, God, bring him back safely and then I can be mad. But bring him home safely.” That one.
Finally, he showed up at 3:30 in the morning. He almost looked annoyed with me. I decided not to talk about anything at that moment and went to sleep. That night, I dreamt that it was over and I was going back to the States. It was awful and heartbreaking. #married #marriedlife #philippines #truelovestory #secondchances #patience #prayer #lovehim #purpose #whenyouleastexpectit
