“No way! you really did that?” Harry laughed.
“Yes! I was so embarrassed. I was the laughing stock of my entire elementary school”
We both laughed our asses off as we sat and ate. After we grabbed the beers we decided to grab some food and chill at a park.
It was surprisingly really nice.
“The only thing that got me through all of that was my dad, he really knew how to cheer someone up.” I sighed, I don’t think I could ever tell anther childhood story without bringing up any thoughts of my father.
“Your dad really seemed to be your best friend” he smiled thinking it was the cheesiest thing he’s heard.
“Yeah he was.” I smiled feeling my eyes tear up a bit.
“Was?” He questioned looking at me in the eyes.
“He passed away a few years ago.” I confessed.
This is the first time those words left my mouth since the accident. I’ve never had to tell anybody, and everyone who knew had found out on the news. It felt weird saying those words out loud and it made me grow upset.
“Oh god. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bring up those thoughts.” Harry was quick to apologize.
“It’s okay” I told him letting a tear slip.
“Do you want me to take you home?” he asked sincerely.
I nodded not really knowing how to use my voice at this point.
He stood up and held out his hand helping me stand as well. We quickly gathered our things and placed them into his car. The whole ride to my dorm was silent but it was a comfortable silence. It was warm in his car and it made me feel secure for some reason.
