Two white rhinos at Kruger National park.
White rhinos and black rhinos are very easy to tell apart. A white rhino has more of a square lip. Black rhinos have a pointed lip. Also white rhinos eat grass and black rhinos tend to eat leaves and fruit from branches, so even from a distance without seeing the face you can tell them apart.
Eating from the ground = white rhino
Eating from a higher source = black rhino
Finally the names have nothing to do with their colour. The “white” of white rhino actually comes from the Afrikaans word “weit” meaning wide (back to that jaw again.) Presumably they named black rhinos as they did just to confuse people!
